Water pools or water tanks are the places with large water consumption, naturally need to pay attention to waterproofing. If the decoration is unreasonable, it will not only affect the surrounding environment, but also lead to water leakage to the downstairs. Therefore, we need to know how to waterproof the pool.
Construction steps of water tank waterproofing
I.base course treatment
1.The base course shall be flat, firm, clean and clean without floating ash and stains, which shall meet the design requirements and acceptance specifications.
2.When the groundwater level is high, a blind ditch filter layer shall be made at the bottom and outside the tank wall with waterproofing membranes or water drainage board.
II.Construction of waterproof layer
1.After the base treatment meets the requirements, slightly scrape and apply mastic slurry with a thickness of about 1-1.5mm on the leveling layer as the interface layer, with water cement ratio = 0.4:1 (weight ratio).
2.Before the initial setting of the primer, a waterproof layer with a thickness of about 2 ~ 3mm in both waterproofing coating and a water cement ratio of 0.25 ~ 0.3:1 (weight ratio) can be scraped. The construction of the second waterproof layer can be carried out only after the first waterproof layer is solidified.
3.The scraping direction of the second waterproof layer shall be perpendicular to the first layer, plastered and compacted, with a thickness of about 2~3mm and a water cement ratio of 0.25 ~ 0.3:1 (weight ratio). The second waterproof layer can be directly tiled, which will save a lot cost.
4.The waterproof layer shall be constructed at the water pool bottom behind the wall, and the internal corner shall be made into an arc shape. It is required that the pool bottom shall be scraped along the wall at one time without leaving joints. If joints must be left, they shall be left at the height of about 300 ~ 500mm on the wall and higher than the joint of the original concrete construction joint. The waterproof layer at the pool bottom and the waterproof layer on the pool wall shall be overlapped.
5.If the pool is on the ground, scrape and apply a layer of waterproof coating on the upstream and back water surfaces respectively as the waterproof layer.
6.After the construction of waterproof layer and facing brick is completed, it shall be cured at room temperature for 5-7 days, and no water shall be stored during the curing period.
Precautions for water proofing of pool
1.The mortar shall be prepared mixes well. It is best to use an electric mixer without raw powder. Before construction, the base course can be wet, but there shall be no open water.
2.The mixed mortar shall be used after 5-10 minutes.
3.The containers and tools used shall be kept clean.
4.The materials should be mixed while using. The well mixed mastic or waterproofing coating should be used up within 6 hours to avoid waste caused by hardening and caking.
The selection of waterproof coating
The selection of waterproof coating is the most important link for the waterproof project of the water pools or tanks. The waterproof layer painted with waterproof coating must have the following characteristics:
1. The waterproof layer has good water resistance and long-term immersion performance (when the water is soaked for a long time, the waterproof layer is required not to fall off and peel).
2.The waterproof layer belongs to the green environmental protection type and can be used for the waterproof treatment of drinking pools, swimming pools, fish ponds and other pools.
3.The waterproof layer has good acid-base resistance, and the water in the pool contains many impurities. Therefore, the acid-base resistance of the waterproof coating must be better.
4.It has good impermeability and compression resistance. The water storage capacity of the large pool is more than thousands of tons. It must be ensured that the main body of the building is not deformed and the waterproof performance cannot be changed.
5.The recommended coatings for watertanks and pools are Sinomaco two part cementitious waterproof coating also called JS cement coating which is made high polymer cement powder and acrylic and latex polymer emulsion. Upon use, mix well to apply then an elastic waterproofing layers will be formed, it is toxic and odour free which makes is suitable for water tanks. You can also choose Sinomaco polymer cement crystalline waterproof coating (CCCW) which is a powder crystalline waterproof coating in gray powdered inorganic material form formulated from ordinary portland cement, aggregates and a variety of special active chemical substances. They are widely used with concrete surfaces. Sinomaco polyurethane coatings are also good choice.
