Most of the hot sell waterproof coatings on the market are organic waterproof coatings.According to different forms of film-forming substances, organic waterproof coatings can be divided into water emulsion waterproof coatings, reactive waterproof coatings and solvent waterproof coatings. What is their features?
1.Water and emulsion based waterproof coating
This kind of waterproof coating, which is used as the main membrane forming material, is stabilized by suspending (rather than dissolving) in tiny particles (rather than molecular state). It becomes emulsion like coating in water, such as acrylic waterproof coating, silicone roofing waterproof coating and so on.
Features: through water evaporation, the conjunctiva is formed through the process of solid particles approaching, contacting and deforming; The coating drying is slow, and the compactness of one-time film formation is lower than that of solvent based coatings. Generally, it is not suitable for construction below 5 ℃ since the water may frozen; And, the normal storage period recommended is 6-9 months; It can be constructed on the slightly wet base course; This kind of waterproof coating is non toxic, non combustible, safe in production, storage, transportation and use; It is easy to operate and does not pollute the environment; The cost is also in low stage so it is widely used in the market.
2.Reactive waterproof coating
As the main film-forming material, this kind of waterproof coating exists in the liquid shape of prepolymer. This coating is mostly composed of two-component or single component, and almost contains no solvent. For example, two-component polyurethane waterproof coating.
Features: through the chemical reaction between liquid polymer prepolymer and corresponding substances, usually in A/B part, it becomes conjunctiva; It can form a thick film at one time without shrinkage and the film is dense; The two-component coating shall be accurately mixed at 1:2 or as manufacturer’s instructions on site to ensure the quality; The price of this coating is expensive compared to the water and emulsion based coating.
3.Solvent based waterproof coating:
In this kind of coating, the polymer material as the main film-forming material is dissolved in organic solvent to become a waterproof coating. Polymer materials exist in the coating in molecular state.
Features: the conjunctiva is formed through solvent volatilization, macromolecular chain contact, overlapping and other processes; The coating dries quickly, and the conjunctiva is thin and dense; The production process is simple and the storage stability of the coating is good; It is flammable, explosive and toxic. More attention must be paid to safety during production, storage and use; As the solvent volatilizes quickly, it will pollute the environment during construction. So it is not recommend in the market.
