How to Use Cementitious Capillary Crystalline Powder Waterproof Coating?

Sinomaco Cement Based Powder Crystalline Waterproof Coating (CCCW) is a gray powdered inorganic material formulated from ordinary Portland cement, aggregates and a variety of special active chemical substances. Its waterproof principle is a unique active chemical substance. Using the inherent chemical properties and porosity of concrete, water is used as a carrier, and water reacts with the pores of the structure and reacts to generate insoluble crystals such as ettringite, which are active chemical substances and components that are not fully hydrated, then hydration occurs again, and cementation is promoted to form crystals. The formed crystals are filled and blocked in the concrete to act as pores, so that the crystal and the concrete form as a whole, and water cannot enter the concrete to achieve the purpose of waterproofing.

I. Construction method

1. Inspection of the concrete structures 

All concrete structures to be waterproofed shall be carefully checked for structural defects, such as cracks and honeycomb pitted poor surface, which shall be chiseled and cleaned, and filled with ash paddle before waterproof. 

2. Clean the surface of base course

The surface of the base course must be kept clean to provide a fully open capillary system to facilitate penetration. The cement, dust and oil stain on the base surface shall be removed. Both new and old concrete shall be wetted with water, but there shall be no open water. The newly poured concrete surface can be applied the cement crystalline powder waterproofing coating after pouring for 20hours. 

3. Waterproof layer construction

Brushing or spraying: the brush or spray the mixed Sinomaco cement crystalline powder waterproofing coating on the prepared concrete surface according to the mass ratio design.

Ratio: Powder coating: clean water = 3:1; Recommend dosage: 1.0-1.5kg/m2.

The waterproofing construction requires to be finished once with one-time waterproofing coating.

Pay attention to the cleaning and wetting treatment of the coating base surface (fully wet, but no open water). If it is found that the local base surface is still too dry during construction, it must be re wetted. The applied waterproof coating exposed to the sun can last for 1 ~ 2 days, and it shall be moist and cured with clean water. When mixing the water with the powder cement crystalline waterproofing coating materials, the coating must be mixed evenly with completion string, and there shall be no uncooked dry balls in the slurry. 

During waterproofing construction, the slurry prepared according to the requirements shall be evenly brushed and coated on the base surface requiring waterproofing. 

During the waterproof construction on the upstream surface, because the possible water seepage parts cannot be predicted, the dosage should be slightly increased accordingly. It is recommended to brush one coating horizontally, and then brush another coating vertically after it is dry. 

Improve the impermeability of waterproof coating as much as possible, and pay attention to the treatment of honeycomb base surface.

During the construction on the back water surface, small leakage is easy to be detected, and the leakage shall be blocked before the waterproof construction. 

II. Construction precautions

1. The material contains cement, crystalline silica sand and other components, which should not be directly contacted by hand. The applicator should wear gloves for waterproofing construction.

2. During the waterproofing construction, dust may cause skin allergy and irritation to eyes and respiratory tract. It is recommended to wear dust-proof glasses and masks and wash hands after construction. 

3. The construction site shall be ventilated, and the construction shall not be carried out in a closed environment without ventilation conditions.
